  4. Note #0:    Welcome to Human Interface Notes                        June 1990

  7. Human Interface Note #0 (this document) accompanies each release of Human
  8. Interface Notes.  This release includes revisions to Human Interface Note 8
  9. and new Human Interface Notes 9-10.  These documents are written and produced
  10. by the Macintosh Human Interface Group and published in conjunction with
  11. Developer Technical Support for all Apple developers.
  12.  
  13. These documents correct and enhance the Human Interface Guidelines: 
  14. The Apple Desktop Interface; they also incorporate and supersede the 
  15. previously released "Human Interface Updates."  This means that all you 
  16. need is the Human Interface Guidelines and these documents to stay 
  17. abreast of the latest recommended interface guidelines (unless, of course,
  18. you want to be on the very cutting edge of interface technology and read 
  19. Tog's article in Apple Direct every month).  These documents and the book will 
  20. eventually be incorporated into a single, comprehensive human interface
  21. reference, but you'll need both until that time.

  23. These documents are not done in a vacuum.  Many of the guidelines you see 
  24. are a direct result of developer feedback.  If you have any questions or 
  25. ideas for interface extensions or clarifications, please contact the Macintosh
  26. Human Interface Group at one of the following electronic addresses:

  31. We want Human Interface Notes to be distributed as widely as possible, 
  32. so they are sent to all Partners and Associates at no charge; they are also 
  33. posted on AppleLink in the Developer Services bulletin board and other 
  34. electronic sources, including the Apple FTP site (IP 130.43.2.2).

  36. We place no restrictions on copying Human Interface Notes, with the exception
  37. that you cannot resell them, so read, enjoy, and share.  We hope these 
  38. guidelines provide you with lots of useful information while you are 
  39. developing software for Apple computers.  The following page lists all Human 
  40. Interface Notes that have been released.
